Hi, I am Mayela.
I am an Indigenous scholar and practitioner of Mesoamerican Fire Cupping Therapy also known as (Ventosas). I have been living in California since 2001 and went to Chico State for Anthropology and Business Management with a focus on employee wellness and Indigenous reconciliation/reclamation.
I am a certified cupping practitioner through the ACE Institute of Massage Cupping and also learned cupping through my grandmothers and other elders in my ancestral community in Tepezala, Aguascalientes, Mexico.
My work with fire cupping focuses on relaxing the nervous system, as well as boosting circulation and lymphatic drainage with stagnant, flash, and dynamic cupping techniques. Combining the ancient with modern science.
In my spare time I love to spend time with my family, plants, and farm animals, travel, and write.
I recently started making massage oils to raise funds for ecological conservation projects both in California and in Mexico. My life has been highly impacted by mega fires in Northern California as well as ecological destruction by foreign mines in Mexico. Both of these places hold a very deep place in my heart and as I share the medicine of my ancestors, I also pay it forward to the earth spaces that have held me throughout my life in whichever way I can.
